Xero 2km Stand Up Paddle Board at the Napier Port Ocean Swim.
9am 18 February 2017
2017 will mark the seventh year of the Napier Ocean Swim and the first time a SUP race has been included..
This is a fun 2km SUP race for competent paddlers, giving competitors the experience of a real race situation.
This is your chance to be part of the inaugural Napier Port Ocean Swim SUP race! Competitors need to be reasonably experienced, having trained either on the course or in an open water environment. A compulsory SUP board and equipment safety check at 8.30am will be followed by a race briefing at 8.45am. Competitors will line up at the water's edge with their paddles and boards for the start of the race. Competitors will paddle directly towards the first 100m marker, turning right towards the 900m marker, turn right around the 900m marker, back to the initial 100m marker, turning left and back into shore.
At the end of the course, competitors will leave their board and paddle at the water's edge and run up the beach to the finish gantry. We will have several "handlers" at the shoreline who will collect your board and paddle and clear it out of the competition area.
Online entries close 9pm Thursday 16th February 2017. Entry Fee = $60 per person and includes a SUP high vis safety shirt
